Void Runners

What is Void Runners?

Quick answer

Void Runners is a twin-stick roguelike for one to four pilots where beams link every pair of ships in the crew and shred whatever they sweep. A run crosses three sectors of four jumps toward the Hive Carrier, Severance and the Leviathan, on Steam in Q1 2027.

Void Runners is a twin-stick roguelike for one to four pilots, built for a couch but playable online, where beams link every pair of ships in your crew. Where you fly relative to the rest of the crew is the decision the whole game is built around.

The beam is the game

Each pair of ships in the crew is joined by a beam that shreds anything it sweeps. That single rule turns positioning into the main verb: the store page frames it as spread out to cover the field, swing the web through a swarm, or pull in tight to crossfire an elite. Three stances, one crew.

Because the beams run between ships rather than from ship to target, moving one pilot changes the firing line of everyone linked to them. Covering more of the field means thinner beams; concentrating three or four beams on one elite means leaving the rest of the screen alone. The crew has to agree, each jump, on which trade it wants.

A run in three sectors

A run crosses three sectors of four jumps. Each sector ends at a guardian, so a full clear is a climb of twelve jumps with three gatekeepers. Between jumps the crew votes on the route rather than following a single fixed path.

Built for the couch first

One to four pilots share a screen or play online, and the two mix: two on the sofa and two at home is a supported crew, the same as four on their own machines. The Steam page lists shared and split-screen co-op alongside online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer, and local co-op uses up to four controllers.

What makes it a roguelike

Each run is a salvage raid through generated sectors, and the build you carry out is assembled from what the run gives you. Parts are picked at a refit table between jumps and bought with the scrap the crew salvages, so a run's identity is decided as you go rather than before you start.
